One of my personal September rituals involves the kitchen. As the weather shifts, I find myself drawn back to slower cooking—soups that simmer for hours, roasted vegetables caramelizing in the oven, bread baking in the afternoon light. And on one of those first properly cool evenings, there's nothing quite like a simple meal elevated by a final flourish: a sprinkle of flaky sea salt over heirloom tomatoes still warm from the sun, or over a simple pasta tossed with brown butter and sage. That crystalline crunch, that burst of mineral brightness—it's September on a plate.
